The First Lady Jill Biden unveiled the White House holiday decorations for 2023 on Monday.
This year's theme: "Magic, wonder and joy," which the first lady said is inspired by how children experience the season. On Wednesday, he plans to "unveil the 2023 White House vacation rink on the South Lawn," according to a White House statement.
Details: Many of the decorations were inspired by candy and some of the ornaments were made by children. Also on display were letters to Santa Claus and President Biden from kids across the country.
In numbers: It took more than 300 volunteers from across the country who worked for an entire week to decorate the interior and exterior of the White House. The show includes:
- 98 Christmas trees
- Over 33,800 ornaments
- Over 142,400 lights
The White House Gingerbread it was made with 40 sheets of sugar cookie dough, 40 sheets of gingerbread dough, 90 pounds of pastillage (cake decorating paste that dries hard), 30 pounds of chocolate, and 50 pounds of royal icing.
