Art Exhibition Kostas Plakotaris - Kostas Kontogiannis entitled "Conversations" for the 30 years of the Hellenic Society for Multiple Sclerosis.
Two important Greek painters present more than 40 of their works, mainly landscapes, portraits and compositions with human figures, many of them of large dimensions, on the 2nd floor of Hatziyannios.
Kostas Plakotaris was drawn to the study of modernist trends from a very early age, but he remained a representational painter, mainly a landscape painter.
He developed a personal idiom where he combines analytical cubism and orphism, mainly in the works of the interwar period. The exhibition will feature oil and watercolor works.
Kostas Kontogiannis belongs to the post-war generation of Greek art, in which abstraction played a leading role.
"I subtract to emphasize the essentials, to project them as vividly as possible with the intensity of the emotion and vision they created for me. Abstraction for me is a means to better express the human form, not to obliterate it. I belong to a generation of "romantics", perhaps the last, that some umbilical cord binds us to the worship of nature and the truth of form".
He used to work as an apprentice with the pencil every day until the end of his life with models of familiar faces: members of his family, children and youth of the village, farmers and breeders, patrons of the cafe, works which will be presented in the exhibition.
Their connecting link is Melita Plakotari, daughter of the painter Kostas Plakotari and the poet Alexandra Plakotari and wife of Kostas Kontogiannis. The exhibition will present her works, as well as poems by Alexandra Plakotari.
