Event for the presentation of historical items which refer to the presence of the French Army in Thessaly: Hatzigianneio Cultural Center

The French Institute of Larissa - French Embassy in Greece and the Larissa Photo Archive, with the support of the Region of Thessaly and the Municipality of Larissa, invite you to the event for the presentation of historical documents, which refer to the presence of the French Army in Thessaly in June 1917. The event will take place on Friday, May 20 at 8:00 p.m. at the Hadzigianne Spiritual Center.

A video provided by the French Ministry of Defense will be shown with snapshots of the presence of the French Army under General Sarrail in Larissa and Volos and the visit of General Meteora, edited by Photo Gallery member Giorgos Gravanis. This is the oldest film that has been located with references to our city and reveals the Larissa of another era. At the same time, there will be a presentation of photos from the presence of the French military and the activities during their stay here.

Speakers will be:

Presentation topic: "World War I: The French Army in Thessaly and Macedonia"

Greetings will be addressed by: the regional governor, Mr. Konstantinos Agorastos, the mayor, Mr. Apostolos Kalogiannis, representative of the French Embassy in Athens, Ms. Chryssa Voulgaraki, director of the French Institute of Larissa, and Mr. Nikolaos Papatheodorou on behalf of the Larissa Photo Archive.

The event will be coordinated by Mrs. Chryssa Voulgaraki.
