"1923-2023 / One hundred years of Philolaos": Hatziyanneio Spiritual Center
The Deputy Mayor of Culture & Science of the Municipality of Larissa, organize events entitled "1923-2023 / One hundred years of Filolaos", on Thursday 30 and Friday 31 March 2023 at the Hatziyanneio Spiritual Center of Larissa, in the context of the Philolaos year instituted by our Municipality, dedicated to the work of the leading and internationally renowned contemporary sculptor of our Diaspora, a distinguished citizen of our city and of the world.
The first dedicated event for the creator will take place in the ground floor hall on 20:30 and includes screening of the film "Filolaos Tloupas, A "portrait" by his brother Takis Tloupas" by Kalliopi Legakis, 20 minutes long, based on photographs and unpublished film material shot by Takis Tloupas, with a super8 camera, in the 50s, 60s and 70s, capturing moments from the life and work of Filolaos and a speech by dr. Katerinas Jamou, Art Historian. with the theme "The man Philolaos".
Ms. Jamou in her speech will focus mainly on his works created within the framework of 1% for art, the so-called public art, in France.
Katerina Tzamou studied Archeology and History of Art at the University of Ioannina (1984-1988) and at the University of Paris I, Panthéon-Sorbonne in Paris (1989-1995), where she was awarded a Doctor of History (Direction History of Art) on 11/1/ 1996.
He worked at the Department of History and Archives of the French Institute of Architecture (Institut Français d' Architecture – Département Archives et Histoire) as well as at the National Museum of Modern Art, Center Georges Pompidou (1990-1994).
He taught at the Hellenic Open University, in the "European Culture" Program of the School of Humanities, in the Thematic Unit "History of the Arts in Europe" (2002-2011). He worked at the Architecture Research Office of the Academy of Athens (2009-2012). She has been teaching in Secondary Education since 1995 and is a philology teacher at the Standard General High School of Ionideu School, Piraeus.
On Friday, March 31 at 7:30 p.m. on the 2nd floor of the building, a timeless, extensive presentation of the creator's designs and studies will be inaugurated with additional sculptural works and historical portraits from private collections of our fellow citizens, anecdotal photographic material from the life and work of the prominent our sculptor.
Duration of presentation: 31 March – 31 May 2023.
The artist Andreas Giannoutsos, artistic director of the Filolaus year, is responsible for organizing and curating the events. director of the Larissa Contemporary Art Center, who notes in this regard:

Filolaos's sculpture, profoundly renewed, is distinguished in principle for its functional and social mission, for its utilitarian disposition, the defining structure of spatial searches and dialogic concepts, which, beyond academic formalist concepts, through a reassessment of plastic problems, tends perfectly, with the liberation of matter, but also of power, to take on a state of archetypal, spiritual character.
The concept of the monumental works together and is complemented, as an expression of the everyday, with an enormous wealth of varied meanings and images, an element of poetic experience and familiarity, which interactively participates in the humanization of the public environment and urban landscape.
His work, always based on the coordinated concepts of space and place, dominant equivalent elements of its content, expression and plasticity, "aims" and contributes to the production of an inspired work, which is imposed as the principle and constant of a law-abiding, cosmic fuse , which legitimizes its material, be it steel or poured concrete, giving it, as it should, a new dimension.
A living element of his work, the organization and purity of the form, the dynamic juxtaposition, ergonomics and balancing of his volumes and spaces.
An authentic, Doric, simple but also penetrating creator, who, even in the slightest displacement, twisting and twisting of the form, detaches the sensation from the object that causes it, manipulates it intelligently, so that it finally reveals itself as an entity of a world more complete than the real, who discovers in the simplicity of so little, so much.”
